The FNS doctoral funding is intended for highly talented post-graduates from abroad. The scholarships are awarded independent of parental income and need not be repaid. The subject of the doctoral thesis should be of relevance for science and society issues. The scholarships are initially granted for one year and can be extended for a second year, if applied for. Funding beyond the third year is not possible. International scholars receive up to EUR 1,200 each month plus a contribution to health insurance, as well as for family members traveling along.
